Outfit Post: The Wrong Dress!

A few weeks ago I decided I deserved a treat so I ordered myself a dress I had wanted for a long time.
It was an orange swing dress, I was planning to wear it for my friend Sarah's birthday night out.
I'm like a kid at Christmas when I'm expecting a delivery through the door and I waited excitedly for it to arrive all week.
But when it finally did arrive it was the wrong dress!
Much frustration and many tears were nearly shed as I though the whole outfit I had planned on wearing was ruined.
However... I couldn't have been more wrong!
The dress that I received was the same style but in the wrong colour... or was it?
I, in fact loved this colour more than the one I had actually ordered.
My world was restored to rights.
Now for the pictures.
Dress - Lindybop
Hair Flower (that you can't see) - H&M

Also by some stroke of luck my hair turned out perfectly!
I got told in a bar we went into that I looked like a Disney princess... not sure which one he meant as I don't think I've ever seen a Disney Pin Up Princess!
Oh now you can see the hair flower... just.

Outfit Post: Mixing Your Seasons

So it's September and the start of the erratic weather in Britain.
One moment it's hot then one moment it's cold! It is till important to dress fro the weather though, but I hear you ask, how can you when you don't know from one moment to the next if it will snow, rain or be as hot as the desert?
The only thing to do is mix and match your winter and summer wardrobes like I have.
Skirt- eBay
Jumper- H&M
Petticoat- eBay
Shoes- Primark
Bag- Primark

Skirts and jumpers are my new favorite thing, if I owned more of them I would wear that combo a lot more often.

I really liked the colour combination of this outfit, not too bright and not too dull.
It also looks snazzy in black and white ;)
Aren't we romantic?

Dreamboats and Petticoats

There are no dreamboats in this post however there is a petticoat. My very first petticoat!
I've always stayed away from petticoats because 1: I have always liked the natural fall of a swing dress/skirt and 2: I wasn't sure if I'd look stupid in one or not.
It turns out I don't though so I shall be wearing them a lot more often *bank account cries*.
This petticoat wasn't a bank breaker, I went onto my favorite internet shopping sight, yes eBay, and managed to find it for only £10.99 with free p&p!

Here's the outfit I wore it with.
Yes all the photos are in black and white again so I shall tell you the colours.
Red gingham Gypsy top (Primark years ago) and a vintage blue gingham circle skirt.
Also my pin curls turned out particularly well that day, I was rather pleased with myself.

Glasgow 2013

It was once again that time of year when Jessie Grace, Sarah Lou and I take ourselves off to Glasgow for the weekend for copious amounts of food and drink.
With it being Scotland of course the weather was miserable (it just so happened that it was glorious back home too) but we didn't let that spoil our fun.
Take a look :)
The pre-train burger king... such a beauty :/
Inside our hotel room and the snack we packed for our trip. Perhaps a little glutenous of us, needless to say it didn't all get eaten.
Most probably our second favorite place in Glasgow, Hillhead Book Club in which we drank lots of this stuff...
 Mango and Raspberry cider.
See!

And then it was time for dinner at our number 1 favorite place in Glasgow...
Ketchup!
I think these might just possibly be the best nachos in the whole world...ever!
Yum yum!

Preparing for a night on the tiles
 Reading my new book ;)

Taking a rather dangerous yet amusing ride on the Glasgow Subway

Sorry it took so bloomin' long to post this!
Till next time folks,

Apologies

Dear readers I must apologies and most sincerely for I have completely neglected you and this blog.
I've just been so busy with work lately that I've had no time to do anything vintage inspired :( and to tell the thruth after a hard days work I often can't be bothered to do anything but sleep.
Naughty Laura Lou! I know.
In fact I'm so busy that I even have to miss out of 'Judy's affordable vintage fair' this Saturday and I can tell you it's killing me. I mean the words 'affordable' and 'vintage' in once sentence and I have to miss it?!? are you kidding me?
Well sadly I'm not but I do promise to try and blog more than I have of recent times because frankly the way I've been going on is atrocious!
My sincerest and heart felt apologies are all virtually sent to you (for give me?).
Well since I'm on here I may as well share with you the outfit I wore last night.
My boyfriend Pablo cooked my Spaghetti and Meats balls and boy were they delicious!
You can't tell in this photo but this dress is rather old and raggy. It's not vintage, I've just worn it that much that it has holes and rips everywhere.
I must say I'm loving having shorter hair right now, it makes pin curls look a lot more authentic. Sadly my hair has grown quite a lot since I got it cut in December so these curls didn't hold for more than a few hours.

My parting words to you all shall be... go on eBay! They is some great vintage on there at the moment.
Till next time,
Laura Lou x

warm winter clothes at last!

It's a bit late, now that the snow has gone, but I have finally bought myself some winter clothes... well I bought 1 sweater/jumper but it's a start at least and it means I wont be as cold as I have been of late (my own doing entirely I know).
Firstly ignore the possessed look on my face... In this picture I'm wearing it with a top I bought from George at Asda for £6, it has a little black collar, as you can see, which lies quite nicely over the neck of the sweater.
The Jumper its self was only £14.99 from H&M and (if my memory serves me right) it comes in blue, green and...Mustard??? I'm not too sure.
And here I am again modeling it with a neck scarf and Victory rolls. I tell you it took ages to get those blighters in! I used to be so good at them :s
Urgh, those roots will be getting sorted tonight, I'm sure Doris would never have let hers get that bad.
Till next time folks, 'stay classy'....
I'm just kidding,

Untitled (due to the fact that I can't think of a title)

Just a quick post to show you a cute little hairstyle I did on Saturday :)
I used a quick and simple pin curling technique which I will be doing a tutorial on and uploading to my new blog (dedicated to vintage style hair and makeup) http://make-mevintage.blogspot.co.uk/ .

I put my outfit together using a fairly old pencil skirt which I got from George for (if I recall correctly) £8? and the top is also from George, it cost £12 and is still available online and in stores.

On a different and slightly less vintage note, Friday was fishbowl night with Jessie Grace and Sarah Lou.
I'd had a long week at work and could not muster the energy to do anything nice with my hair (don't judge me!) so to compensate I wore my old Lindy Bop Wiggle dress which hadn't actually seen daylight since January 2012, poor thing.
The crippling shoes I wore which prevented me from standing up all night. But it turned out to be a blessing as Jessie Grace and Sarah Lou had to go to the bar all night.
A slightly fuzzy picture of one of the fish bowls we had, I lost count after the first three.

A rather comical photo of me looking mortified after accidentally groping a man on the way back from the toilets.

Till next time folks,
