Happy Birthday Dear

Two birthdays in as many days, this time it is the birthday of a much loved and much missed dear friend.
Lizzie Jobes.

Lizzie, who died last October, would have been 22 today.
Everyone who knew Lizzie would agree with me when I say that she was very much the life and soul of every situation and today (as everyday) she is greatly missed.
I ask you to spare a thought for her family today.

Lizzie, happy birthday!

Vintage Fashion on TV

Over the last year there have been quite a few brilliant period dramas set around the 1950s on British TV and the fashion is just stunning.
My current favourite programme on TV is Mrs Biggs, its based on the true story of the Mr and Mrs Biggs and the great train robbery.
It stars Sheridan Smith who is just such a wonderful actress and visually beautiful to look at.

The Styling in Mrs Biggs is great, it's perfect 50s and 60s fashion, I'm pretty envious of Sheridan Smith that she got to wear those outfits, I'm not going to lie.

Also on TV at the moment is The Bletchley Circle, a drama which is also set in the 1950s about a group of women who were involved in code breaking during the war.

Rachael Stirling, in my opinion, has the best styling in this. She is on the far right (cute green cloves)

I adore the trouser and cardie get up Rachel Stirling is sporting here and I so want one of those berets.

Then last year there was a little show called The Hour about a news programme in the 1950s. It starred two of my most loved British actors, Ben Whishaw and Romola Garai.

Till next time lovelies

Hello there dearies, I promise I will post something worth while very soon (I'm just waiting for something interesting to happen around here) but for now I would just like to say a little thank you for reading my blog!

I really am chuffed to bits, thank you all.

Are you ready for my close ups?

I know this post has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with anything vintage but I would like to share it anyway.
You see since I discovered the 'Close up' mode on my Nikon Cool Pix camera I have found taken so many different and pretty cool photos and I'd love to share them with you all.
These photos were all taken in my back garden over the last few months (since our lovely house fire).

A small collection of some of my mothers flowers.

This Rose does not belong to my mother. It belongs to my next door neighbour, I had to stand on our small wall with my camera raised high to capture these two.

This I call 'the Monster Mushroom'!
You can't get the magnitude of how big it was ('was' because we had to remove it) from the photo but I promise you it was enormous

And this is a feather from some sort of black looking bird.

This last one you all may find a little weird, it's a close up of Bethan's eye.
Freeky ain't it?

Well that's all from me for now,
till next time,
Laura Lou x

Tea Time!

On Saturday (before I went out and got completely cabbaged) we took a little drive to Wallsend Hall tea room and gallery.
It was a lovely little tea room inside an old manor house (in the nice end of Wallsend) decked out with all sorts of pretty little vintage things.
I wore a 1960s green skirt and teamed it with a 1970s shirt and denim jacket I only wish I could of done my hair and makeup but sadly time was not on my side that day.
This is just one corner of the tea room, I call it the 1940s corner, it looks adorable with the little wireless sitting on the chest.

Every table was set with a different china tea set, this was ours. I was seriously tempted to slip in in my bag and bring it home with me, but I didn't obviously. All the china and cutlery were antiques!

I liked this set too, I think it was a 1960s set but I could be wrong, I probably am.

My lunch which consisted of cheese and pickle sandwiches, with a side salad of course, and a cheese scone. Delicious!

The cars slightly ruin this dramatic photo.
I couldn't not get my photo taken with this beast of a tree could I?

Then after the tea rooms I whizzed off home to get ready for cocktail o'clock with Hannah Potter.
Till next time,
Laura Lou x

Birmingham Part 3

Our last day in Birmingham was an eventful one. We woke at 6am to pack, have breakfast and check out then we were on the road.
We had to be at Cadbury's World by 9am (lots of early starts) and were out by 12. Sadly all the photo's I took in Cadbury's World were very blurred so I can't show you any :( but as we did go back to the Safari I can show you more pictures of animals... yey!

I wore a military inspired outfit. Vintage 1970s dress with a little primark scarf.
Bethan wore her 'Will Power' T-shirt that she and me bought the previous day except mine is navy blue and gold (and better)

I took this photo after we had lunch in the car and I got slightly bored waiting for everyone to finish. I have more like this but Charlie and Bethan photo bombed them all, this one had a lucky escape.

The Rhinos again, looking slightly sad.
A Giraffe getting all up in my grill.

I love this photo.
You saw the head and now you can see the tail. Will I ever get a full picture of a Zebra?

And that concludes my Holiday in Birmingham, I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I did.
Till next time folks,
Laura Lou x
