Here's a few vintage hairdos I've recently sported :)
1960s beehive, I seriously can't get enough of this style at the moment, even if it does ruin my hair with all the backcombing.
1940s Veronica Lake style waves. This happened completely by accident on Halloween (hence the spider on my face) never the less I was very pleased with it.
Classic 1940s updo. I had to get Bethan to do this for me (oh the shame) but I have the hang of it now!

On Monday night myself, Bethan, Alexandra and Jessie Grace went to the Metro Radio Arena to watch Michael McIntyre on his Showtime tour.
We've had the tickets booked for well over a year now which, if you ask me, is a bad thing. I liked Michael McIntyre a year ago, now I'm not so keen. I don't have anything against him or anything, I think he is really good at what he does, but my humour has changed since we booked the tickets. I now prefer more Sarcastic comedians like Jimmy Carr for example.
But hey ho I had the ticket so I still went along.
I did my hair in a 40s style updo with victory rolls on the side.
I had never do this style before hence all of the Bobbie pins that are on show. I had left a small bit of hair out at the back and curled it but the curl sadly dropped out.
I contemplated wearing my (faux) furs for the event but then thought I might look a bit too dressed up so I switched it for my (faux) leathers instead.

Although (as I have already said) I am not a huge fan of Mr McIntyre I didn't find the whole show terribly boring. Don't get me wrong I wasn't in hysterics all the way through but he does tell some good jokes.

On Saturday myself and Hannah Potter took ourselves to the South Shields vintage fair held by local vintage shop It's Vintage darling.
It was a beautiful (if not cold) Saturday afternoon, perfect for bargain hunting!
I was increadibly lazy and couldn't bring myself to make much of an effort so instead I did a cuttie patootie beehive instead.
I've always had this thing about taking pictures of blue Sky in case you were wondering why I had stuck these to randoms in here.
Sadly I got so caught up in the atmosphere of the vintage fair that I forgot to take pictures! But I snapped a few of my purchases when I got home.
Here they are...
I somehow managed to fine a pair of earring, a broach and a spoon that all matched. I was thrilled I can tell you! The earrings are dated around the 1950s, sadly no one could tell me the date of the spoon and broach.
I picked this little beauty up for a few bob too, again undated sadly.
And this cameo chocker, apparently from the 50s but I think it may be dated a little latter than that.
Now this pin I was assured was for the 1950s, it came in it's original box and now has a special place on my shelf.
This vanity set was a bargin, I think it's late 1970s.
I also picked up this dress ring, it's fashioned on one of Marylin Monroe's peices.
As you will all know by now I am a massive fan of music from the 1960s and have blogged a few times about some of the female groups of that era. Well now its the time of the boys.
This band was one of the first bands I really became obsessed with. I think I first heard them when I was around 7 and I've been a huge fan ever since.
Its The Hollies!
Although there were lots of 'boy bands' around in the 1960s (and I love almost all of them) the Hollies are something extra special.
Their music brings back so many memories from my childhood and early teens, its like my own personal soundtrack.
"The Hollies originated with a duo formed by Allan Clarke and Graham Nash, who were best friends from primary school and began performing together during the skiffle craze of the late 1950s.[2] Eventually Clarke and Nash became a vocal and guitar duo modeled on the Everly Brothers under the names "Ricky and Dane Young."[2]
Under this name, they teamed up with a local band, the Fourtones,
consisting of Vic Steele (born Victor Winston Farrell, 8 May 1945, Manchester) on lead guitar, Eric Haydock on bass guitar, and Don Rathbone (born Donald Rathbone, October 1942, Wilmslow, Cheshire) on drums.[2] They first called themselves The Hollies for a December 1962 gig at the Oasis Club in Manchester.[2] It has been suggested that Haydock named the group after the green garland for Christmas, but in a 2009 interview, Graham Nash said that the group decided just prior to a performance to call themselves "the Hollies" because of their admiration for Buddy Holly as well.[3] In 2009, Nash wrote, "We called ourselves the Hollies, after Buddy and Christmas."[4]
In January 1963, The Hollies performed at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, where they were seen by Parlophone assistant producer Ron Richards, who had been involved in producing the first Beatles session.[2]
Richards offered them an audition with Parlophone, but Steele did not
want to be a "professional musician" and left in February 1963. [2] For the audition, they replaced Steele with Tony Hicks, who played in a Nelson band called the Dolphins, which also featured Bobby Elliott on drums and Bernie Calvert on bass.[2]
Not only were they signed by Richards, who would continue to produce
the band until 1979, but a song from the audition, a cover of the Coasters' 1961 single "(Ain't That) Just Like Me", was released as their debut single in May 1963, and hit No.25 on the UK Singles Chart."Wikipedia
And the best thing about The Hollies is, they're still going strong today! They're like an ever lasting gobstopper, it's great. As much as I'd like too I couldn't possible name a favourite song of theirs because there a just too many that I cherish but I will leave you with this one. Till next time folks, Laura Lou x
Wednesday Night saw My, Mother Brown, Aunty Teresa and Jessie Grace trawling down to Trocaderos to watch my sister Bethan perform as Columbia in The Trocky Horror Picture Show!
Needless to say as Wednesday was the 31st of October, and the 31st of October was Halloween there were a lot of people dressed up. One of them was David John Hopper.
