My Birthday Week

Last Sunday Jessie Grace and Sarah Lou took me to York for a little pre-birthday vintage shopping trip.
As the weather was so deceiving we decided to wear dresses and spent the whole day complaining about how cold it was but never the less we had a lovely day.

I may have been cold but I looked darned cute I can tell you that!

You can see how we were so easily fooled by the sun, it looked so warm!
After a long car journey and a humorous bus ride we arrived in York.
I had completely forgotten how beautiful a city York is, it's like being transported into a Dickens novel.
I was tempted to 'borrow' this bike to ride around on and re-enact the Sound of Music.
Me posing in front of York Minster.
We took a stroll through the very cold Shambles.
Stopped for a spot of lunch
and of course did some shopping.
There were so many vintage shops, most of which were closed with it being a Sunday, but we did stumble across one called the Inkwell which had this wonderful sign outside
and we couldn't resist! I came out with a bag full of things and only spent £10!
We came across this random sight. A man play old war tunes on his piano.
A beautiful sight.
I was so tempted to buy this cloak and I would have if I hadn't just spent a small fortune on a bottle of Jo Malone. If I could have turned back time I would have.
Me trying on more things that don't belong to me :(

And that was the beginning of my Birthday, I don't have many snaps of my actual Birthday so I'll skip right to the end, a delicious Chinese meal at the Imperial with all of my favorite people.

 Till Next Time Folks,
Laura Lou x

My Valentine(s)

Well although it's a little late in coming here is my Valentines Day blog post!
This year was the first year I have actually had someone to spend actual valentines day with and what did I do?
I went to see Train instead!

Now for those of you who don't know who train are shame on you!
No I'm kidding but I do feel sorry for you, they sing amazing songs such as 'Parachute', 'Drops of Jupiter' and 'Hey Soul Sister'.
It was an incredible show even if Pat did have a bad throat, the opening act didnt even let them down.
I usually hate having to sit through opening acts at gigs but this one was a top class act.
Gin Wigmore

Her songs were, the only way I can describe them, kick ass and her band? They know how to play!
Here's a link to one of her songs so you can check her out for yourselves.
Anyway Sadly all the photos I took that night didn't turn out well so I wont bother sharing them with you, apart from these ones anyway.
A special Valentines Kiss for Sarah Lou

Just a little look at my hair and makeup for that night.
Victory Rolls
The outfit was neither here nor there so I won't bore you with pictures of it.

I received roses
a teddy bear (aww)
and a pearl bracelet
all from (and I hate to be soppy and romantic but hey) probably the best boyfriend. In the world :)

I hope you all had a wonderful day too weather you spent it with a loved one, with friends or just on your own.

Till next time Folks,
Laura Lou x

(Finally) Warm This Winter

As I told you in a previous post my all-year-round wardrobe only consists on summer clothes... Well not anymore!

Since I purchased this jumper some weeks ago I have acquired two more snugly warm items of clothing.
It's true that three winter garments wont be enough to suffice through these long cold months but there are just so many pretty dresses out there that need buying, like this one for instance...
which is a Lindy Bop dress from eBay for only £29.99.
But anyway I believe I was about to show you my winter warmers.
This lovely jumper can be found at George at Asda for £14. I've only had mine a week and I've worn it to bit already, it's just that toasty!
my third item was given to me by one of  my mothers friends.
It's a vintage faux fur coat.
It's so big that I feel like a 1930s gangster when I wear it.
I'm not sure on the year but at a guess I'd say (just judging from the label) it might be from the 1970s.

Well, till next time folks,
Laura Lou x

I'm back

I must say I feel awful, neglecting this poor blog for over 2 weeks. I should feel ashamed of myself and I do!
The truth is I've been so tired this last month that I've been hard pushed to do anything never mind update my blog.
But anyway enough of the self pitty Laura Lou tell the readers what you've been up to.
Well a few weeks ago I was invited to Jessie Grace's for a delisious low fat Italian feast!
We dinned on butternut squash and sweet potato chips, garlic green beans and the scrummiest roast vegetable and pepperoni flatbread pizzas... All home made I might add.

For the occasion I wore a land girl inspired outfit but because my laptop is out of use for the next few days and all my pictures are on the darned thing you'll just have to wait to see it. I suppose you may be wondering how, if my laptop is broken, am I blogging this? Well I'm using a handy little app on my idevice, yes I'm finally getting to grips with the technology. About time I know.

Well hopefully my laptop will be back in action soon so I can post some outfits and links, till then though...

Here's the pictures of our feast ;)

warm winter clothes at last!

It's a bit late, now that the snow has gone, but I have finally bought myself some winter clothes... well I bought 1 sweater/jumper but it's a start at least and it means I wont be as cold as I have been of late (my own doing entirely I know).
Firstly ignore the possessed look on my face... In this picture I'm wearing it with a top I bought from George at Asda for £6, it has a little black collar, as you can see, which lies quite nicely over the neck of the sweater.
The Jumper its self was only £14.99 from H&M and (if my memory serves me right) it comes in blue, green and...Mustard??? I'm not too sure.
And here I am again modeling it with a neck scarf and Victory rolls. I tell you it took ages to get those blighters in! I used to be so good at them :s
Urgh, those roots will be getting sorted tonight, I'm sure Doris would never have let hers get that bad.
Till next time folks, 'stay classy'....
I'm just kidding,

Bringing Things Up To Date-ish

So I guess I'm still not dressing for the weather (which in Britain at the moment is heavy snow) if last nights outfit is anything to go by but it was pretty cute anyway.

Last Night my Boyfriend 'Ulman' took me for dinner (I swear he's trying to make me fat) at Martinos.
I tried muscles  for the first time and enjoyed them and also sat and witnessed one of the most awkward dates to have taken place in history I believe.
But anyway back to my outfit....
I went for a 'modern' preppy look. I say 'modern' but non of the clothes I own are actually that modern so it was just my take on that genre.
Although I went for a 'modern' outfit I obviously did a typical vintage makeup look, couldn't step out the house if I didn't at least have some vintage in my ensemble.
My dress I bought from New Look a very long time ago so I can't tell you the price but the jacket as only (if I recall correctly)... £14.99 from H&M so was my hat which I bought back in December in the sale for £2.

Till next time Folks,
